Heinrich Baermann (1784-1847) was a German clarinet virtuoso and composer. He played in the Royal Bavarian Court Orchestra in Munich and later became the principal clarinetist in the Royal Opera Orchestra in Berlin. Baermann is widely regarded as a pioneer of the modern clarinet technique and is known for his innovative use of different registers and his expressive phrasing. He composed many works for the clarinet, including a famous clarinet concerto, and also transcribed and arranged works by other composers for the instrument. Baermann was highly regarded by his contemporaries, and his legacy can be seen in the continued popularity of his compositions and his influence on subsequent clarinetists.
